Hello, I’m Sara Hearn. I was born and raised in Port Alberni with roots on the West Coast that go back for generations. When I graduated in 2015, I took a year off from school and I wasn’t sure what to do with my life, I felt like I was “stuck”. I was then referred by a family member to give INEO Employment Services a try. I attended intake and was then set up with Cindy McAnerin, who was my case manager. She helped me look at my strengths and barriers, as well as we did some career assessments to find what career I would be most suitable for, which ended up being in Human Services. I then decided I was very interested in the Human Service Worker program at North Island College. Cindy made sure I was fully prepared before I stepped into the college doors for my first day of class.
Near the end of my schooling for my last practicum, I was given a practicum position at INEO for my month long practicum. During, the time I spent in my practicum at INEO, I learned a variety of skills with working with the public, as well as with people with disabilities and barriers. After my practicum I went back to my regular customer service job. A month later, I was offered a full time paid position at INEO! I am forever grateful for the opportunity INEO has given me, with not only funding part of my education, but offering me a position to be part of the team after my schooling was finished. I cannot thank INEO Employment Services for everything they have done for me!
