BESET is an inclusive 15-day program for youth between the ages of 15-29 years. Fully funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills, and Training and facilitated by INEO Employment Services (INEO) in partnership with the Nuu-chah-nulth Economic Development Corporation (NEDC). Business, Entrepreneurship, and Employment skills along with a Mentorship program

Who is it for?

Six [6] Indigenous Youth and Six [6] Non-Indigenous Youth, who are: 

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • Living in BC
  • Unemployed or Precariously Employed; and
  • Between the ages of 15 and 29 years.

What is it?

NEDC is providing a 10-day Business & Entrepreneurial Skills Training program that covers all areas of starting a business, from an idea to a completed business plan. You will be guided step by step with help to explore your business idea further. You don’t even need a business idea to apply. You just need to be curious about business and committed to attending the sessions. It even includes nutrition breaks, supplies, and prizes.

INEO facilitates 5 days of Employability Skills Training including short-term certificate training, basic employment readiness skills, resume and cover letter writing, access to business registration fees, work clothing, and more.

INEO provides one-on-one support from a Business Consultant to complete and polish your plan. INEO also provides a training allowance for active participation and a financial bonus upon achievement of successful enrollment in substantial education and/or employment and/or self-employment.

Mentorship – INEO and NEDC work together to support and match community members with program participants to provide mentoring and support in a reciprocal relationship.
